Thank you for downloading this release of the JavaTM Platform, Standard Edition Development Kit (JDKTM). The JDK is a development environment for building applications, applets, and components using the Java programming language.

Java Tm 7 Update 7 Download

WARNING: These older versions of the JRE and JDK are provided to help developers debug issues in older systems. They are not updated with the latest security patches and are not recommended for use in production.

Java SE subscribers get support for JDK 17, receive updates until at least October 2029, are entitled to GraalVMEnterprise, Java Management Service, and bundled patch releases (BPRs) with fixes not yet available tononsubscribers, and more.

TheOracle Technology Network License Agreementfor Oracle Java SE is substantially different from prior Oracle JDK 8 licenses. This license permits certainuses, such as personal use and development use, at no cost -- but other uses authorized under prior Oracle JDKlicenses may no longer be available. Please review the terms carefully before downloading and using this product.FAQs are availablehere.

Server Java Runtime Environment (Server JRE). For deploying Java applications on servers. Includes toolsfor JVM monitoring and tools commonly required for server applications, but does not include browserintegration (Java plug-in), auto-update, or an installer.

These downloads can be used for development, personal use, or to run Oracle licensed products. Use for otherpurposes, including production or commercial use, requires a Java SE subscription or another Oracle license.

Do you want to run Java programs, do you want to develop Javaprograms, or do you want a Java Runtime Environment (JRE) on a server? If you want to run Java programs, but not develop them, download the JRE. If you want todevelop Java applications, download the Java Development Kit, orJDK. The JDK includes the JRE, so you do not have to download bothseparately. If you need the JRE on a server and do not want the ability to run RIAs, download the Java SE Server JRE. This version of the Java SE Server JRE does not include the Java plug-in or Java Web Start support, additional tools might be removed from future versions.

Note: Affected computers may report back as 'Pending Restart' once the patch has run successfully, but will not report back their final status until the computer has been restarted. Important Note: The Java Runtime Environment update does not remove versions of JRE older than JRE 7 update 121. Multiple versions of JRE may be present on affected computers after applying the action below. Fixlet message "Multiple JRE Versions Installed" (ID 7057001) can be used to uninstall older versions of the Java Runtime Environment.

Important Note: Follow the link for the 'Java SE Runtime Environment (JRE) 7 update 121' download on this page. For more information about manually caching file downloads on the BES Server, please see the following BigFix Support Knowledge Base article.

Important Note: To avoid any service interruption on the client computer, use the default action only when client computers do not have any running instances of Java, Internet Explorer, or Firefox. The default action does not close any running instances these applications on the client machines. If any of these applications are running on the client computers, the default action might fail. Schedule the update to occur at a time when the client machine is not using these applications.

Important Note: Choosing the "Upgrade to the latest JRE regardless of whether or not Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Java is currently running action" will close any running instance of Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Java on the client machines. Please schedule the update to occur at a time when a service interruption is acceptable.

Regarding Oracle Java SE Support Roadmap,[3] version 19 is the latest one, and versions 17, 11 and 8 are the currently supported long-term support (LTS) versions, where Oracle Customers will receive Oracle Premier Support. Java 8 LTS the last free software public update for commercial use was released by Oracle in March 2022, while Oracle continues to release no-cost public Java 8 updates for development[3] and personal use indefinitely.[4] Java 7 is no longer publicly supported. For Java 11, long-term support will not be provided by Oracle for the public; instead, the broader OpenJDK community, as Eclipse Adoptium or others, is expected to perform the work.[5]

Java SE 5 entered its end-of-public-updates period on April 8, 2008; updates are no longer available to the public as of November 3, 2009. Updates were available to paid Oracle customers until May 2015.[3]

Java 6 reached the end of its supported life in February 2013, at which time all public updates, including security updates, were scheduled to be stopped.[70][71] Oracle released two more updates to Java 6 in March and April 2013, which patched some security vulnerabilities.[72][73]

Some developers have noticed an issue introduced in this release which causes debuggers to miss breakpoints seemingly randomly.[80] Sun has a corresponding bug, which is tracking the issue. The workaround applies to the Client and Server VMs.[81] Using the -XX:+UseParallelGC option will prevent the failure. Another workaround is to roll back to update 13, or to upgrade to update 16.

Java 7 is a major update that was launched on July 7, 2011[112] and was made available for developers on July 28, 2011.[113] The development period was organized into thirteen milestones; on June 6, 2011, the last of the thirteen milestones was finished.[113][114] On average, 8 builds (which generally included enhancements and bug fixes) were released per milestone. The feature list at the OpenJDK 7 project lists many of the changes.

Oracle issued public updates to the Java 7 family on a quarterly basis[135] until April 2015 when the product reached the end of its public availability.[136] Further updates for JDK 7, which continued until July 2022, are only made available to customers with a support contract.[137]

Java 8 is not supported on Windows XP[185] but as of JDK 8 update 25, it can still be installed and run under Windows XP.[186] Previous updates of JDK 8 could be run under XP by downloading archived zip format file and unzipping it for the executable. The last version of Java 8 could run on XP is update 251.But its components compatibility starts to break on unsupported OS in early build during Java 8 updates development.[citation needed]

From October 2014, Java 8 was the default version to download (and then again the download replacing Java 9) from the official website.[187] "Oracle will continue to provide Public Updates and auto updates of Java SE 8, Indefinitely for Personal Users".[4]

Edit 22-Jul-2019: This answer currently does not work. The below referenced JDK packages are no longer available on Debian Experimental. In any case, they lagged behind Ubuntu Trusty's packages which contained more recent security updates. Please refer to the other answers until this can be resolved (sorry, no ETA).

libfontconfig1 and fontconfig-config must be upgraded to 2.12 or later on Ubuntu 17.10 and earlier. The update packages from Debian do not contain Ubuntu's customizations, so some applications display ugly fonts with these packages installed; e.g. Charles Web Debugging Proxy. Depending on the programs you use, you may or may not be affected by this problem.

Updates to the Original JSRThe following updates have been made since the original proposal:2014.09.22:Iris Clark was added as an additional Maintenance Lead.Maintenance Leads: Iris Clark, Mark Reinhold

This indicates that you are encountering Cisco bug ID CSCuj02425, "WebLaunch on OSX 10.9 fails if java unsafe mode is disabled." In order to workaround this issue, modify the Java preferences so Java can run in unsafe mode for Safari:

Recently announced changes scheduled for Java 7 update 51 (January 2014) have established that the default security slider requires code signatures and the Permissions Manifest attribute. In summary, all Java applets require:

Applications that start Java applets through the portal with Smart Tunnel might fail when JRE7 is used; this is most common with 64-bit systems. In the captures, note that the Java VM sends the packets in clear text, not through the Smart Tunnel connection to the ASA. This has been addressed by Cisco bug ID CSCue17876, "Some java applets won't connect via smart tunnel on windows with jre1.7."

To properly install jGRASP, you'll need to download and install both the Java Development Kit (JDK)and jGRASP.If you are using Mac OS X, the Java Development Kit (JDK) should already be installed,so you can move on to Installing jGRASP. If you are using Windows, read on.Uninstalling the old version of the JDKIf you previously installed an older version of the JDK, you will need to uninstall thissoftware. Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Add or Remove Programs and clickon the version of the JDK you want to uninstall. Click remove. A box will appear, click Yes to continue uninstalling the software. You may then be asked toreboot your computer. Once you have successfully uninstalled the older version ofthe JDK, proceed with the rest of the instructions.

Ubuntu offers the default-jre package, which is regularly updated to ship the latest version of the current OpenJDK JRE in Long Term Support (LTS). The default-jre is an excellent choice for most situations, thanks to the outstanding track of backwards compatibility of the Java Virtual Machine.

(Alternatively, you may opt to use a specific Java version, using for example th
